REPAIRS.

A lot of the time, repairs are relitively straightforward. Faulty hardware that needs replacing, corrupt software that needs re-installing, finding and removing viruses and malware and much more can be performed in our fully equipped workshop. If you're having problems with your computer or tablet, either call to speak to one of our engineers, or bring it in to us and we will book it into our workshop for you. Should you need us to collect your computer from you, or carry out the repairs at your home or work premises, please speak to an engineer first who can then advise on the best plan of action.

Occasionally we may need to send your equipment back to the manufacturer in such cases as a broken laptop screen or an item that is still under the manufacturer's warranty. In instances such as these, we will do our best to keep you updated and have your equipment back as soon as possible.

SERVERS.

Regardless of whether it's for simple file and print sharing, or for more advanced functions such as centralised databases and groupware, your server is the foundation of your business IT model. That is why it's so important to make sure you have the correct solution for your needs.

At Stem Computer Systems, we discuss your current and future needs in this area and plan for possible expansion from the beginning.

Some items may sound obvious, such as the number of clients served, storage capacity and backup facility. Some may be less clear; automated failover in the event of a disk fault or clean shutdown when power is lost. You'd be suprised how many companies don't consider these things until it's too late.

In addition, we supply high quality server systems within a reasonable budget.

When dealing with an area which would leave your entire staff with no computing facilities, you really have to use the best components within your means and we ensure that we do just that!

BACK UP SOLUTIONS.

If you're running a small business, chances are you're saving important files to a server. What happens when disaster strikes? How do you ensure your files won't be lost? Many people fail to realise the loss of files could cripple their business. You can insure your office and equipment, but you can't insure files. You can't repair or buy back lost files. Once they're gone, they're gone!

This brings us to the concept of disaster recovery. Disaster recovery is not, as a lot of people think, about trying to get back data that's already been lost. Disaster recovery is about safeguarding your organisation's data so it can be safely restored in the event of a crippling disaster. Having a file back up strategy is undoubtedly the most important part of disaster recovery.

We always tell our clients that you must ensure all files on the server are backed up to another medium. For personal use, or smaller files, we tend to recommend using pen drives, external hard drives or 'cloud' back ups such as Dropbox. For businesses, again, external hard drives or software like Backup Assist.

If you are currently in need of ways to back up your data, or feel your current back up methods aren't quite right, have a chat with one of our engineers who will help find the right back up solution for you.

VOIP

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. It allows telephone calls to be made over an Internet connection instead of a standard telephone line. The major benefit of using VoIP is the huge drop in price - your phone calls will be very low cost, if not free.

VoIP uses digital Internet technologies (a SIP - Session Initiation Protocol) so there are lots of features and services available which would have been relitavely expensive on a traditional telephone line.

Features such as;

- Voicemail which gets sent to your email
- Call diverts
- On hold music
- Multiple calls can be taken at once on one phone
- Caller menu system to ensure they are put through to the right department
- Choose any phone number - because it's over the Internet, you're not governed by your local area code.

If you are interested in setting up VoIP for your business, please give us a call. We can go through all the great features that VoIP has to offer, and we can provide the right type of VoIP phones for you. As with all of our services, we will provide you with after sales support should you need it.
